ABS's outdoor twin — the same heat tolerance and toughness, engineered to keep its colour and strength through years of UV. The default for anything on a roof, fence or vehicle.
Most plastics quietly fall apart in Australian sun: colours chalk, surfaces craze, parts that flexed snap. ASA was developed specifically to fix that — it's ABS re-engineered with a UV-stable backbone, so a black bracket on a north-facing wall still looks and behaves like a black bracket years later.
We print it like ABS, on vented heated-chamber machines, at $0.165 a gram incl. GST. If the part's address is outdoors, ASA is the answer to most material questions.
Full-sun parts: roof, fence, garden, boat, exterior fixings
Vehicle exterior trim, brackets and mounts
Outdoor enclosures for cameras, sensors, antennas, irrigation
Replacement parts for sun-perished plastic originals
Costs a little over ABS — only pay for UV stability if you need it
Like ABS, shrinks on big flat parts: round corners, even walls
Solvent-bonds and vapour-smooths like ABS (a feature, but plan for edge rounding)
For pure heat indoors, plain ABS does the same job for less
Outdoor parts live in temperature swings — give mating parts the sliding clearance (0.3 mm) so a 40 °C day doesn't seize them.
Drain holes and drip edges matter more than material choice for longevity; we'll flag pooling geometry if we see it.
ASA's matte-satin finish hides layer lines well in daylight; dark colours hide them best.
Antenna mounts, camera brackets, solar accessories, shade-sail hardware — things that must not become brittle by next summer.
Sensor and electronics housings that face rain and sun — pair with vapour smoothing for a sealed surface.
Re-creating the sun-perished clip or bracket the manufacturer stopped making — measure, model, print in something better than the original.
Years. UV stability is the reason ASA exists: it keeps colour and impact strength where ABS and PETG gradually chalk and embrittle in direct sun.
It matches ABS — 95 °C heat deflection and good toughness. For genuinely structural outdoor parts, PETG-CF or PA-CF carry more load; ASA wins on sun exposure.
Yes — same process as ABS, same sealed glossy result, and it improves weather sealing on outdoor enclosures.
